Eco-friendly coffins

Even after their passing your loved one can continue to make a positive impact on the world by being laid to rest in an eco-coffin. These alternative coffins are made from a series of biodegradable and environmentally-friendly materials. All our Eco-friendly coffins come with a 100% fully natural cotton lining and an engraved bamboo nameplate.

We offer willow coffins, pandanus coffins and bamboo coffins. Our three types of natural coffin are made from different materials but are all biodegradable.

The Eco-coffin – Our most popular eco-friendly coffin is made from a species of bamboo that is entirely biodegradable. The material will quickly be broken down and dissolve into the surrounding environment, vitalising the soil and preventing pollution. We specifically use a species of bamboo that is the fastest growing plant on the planet and doesn’t form a part of Chinese Panda’s diet. Therefore our usage of the plant does not detract from any supply or need in the rest of the world.

The Pandanus – Pandanus is a prolific weed with some 750 accepted species. It is an environmentally-friendly alternative to seagrass and can be used to create a beautifully simple coffin that will biodegrade to stimulate the surrounding environment.

The Willow – The material we use for this third option is cut from a highly sustainable bush that remains harvestable for 40 years before it needs replanting. The material creates a biodegradable coffin with a beautiful polished brown finish.
